Softness
Which wool doesn't itch?
Whether wool is perceived as itchy depends, among other things, on fiber fineness, yarn construction, and personal skin sensitivity. Particularly fine fibers are often perceived as more comfortable.

Material Comparison
Merino or Alpaca?
Merino is usually more elastic and shape-retaining. Alpaca offers a lot of warmth with comparatively little weight and is often softer and more flowing.

Why does mohair look so fluffy?
The fine, protruding fibres form a soft halo around the yarn. This makes the knitted fabric appear airier and more diffused, while clear stitch contours recede more into the background.
